Ferozabad, UP, Jan 17 (UNI) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief and former union minister Ajit Singh today termed the Nithari incident a blot on the face of Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a gathering at Tundla, Mr Singh lamented while the episode was a stigma on the law and order situation, state PWD minister and Chief Minister's brother Shiv Pal Singh Yadav was terming it ordinary.

He claimed there had been a deluge of murder, kidnappping and robbery cases in UP, and the law and order machinery had collapsed.

''I wanted to sever the ties with the state government for long, but sailed along for the sake of farmers' interest.'' Mr Singh alleged the state government was apathetic towards the welfare of farmers and when it failed to give attention on the sugarcane prices, RLD came out of the coalition.

Training his guns on CM Mulayam Singh Yadav, the former union agriculture minister said the former was concerned about the well being of industrialists rather than farmers.

He also criticised the BJP and BSP and exhorted the people to support his party.

Meanwhile, Mr Singh announced to intensify stir for a separate Harit Pradesh in western UP for all round development of the region.
