Nikkei down, high-techs fall after Intel earnings

Tokyo, Jan 17: The Nikkei share average fell 0.29 percent on Wednesday as investors sold high-tech stocks such as Advantest Corp. after semiconductor giant Intel Corp. said its quarterly profit fell 40 percent, knocking its shares lower in after-hours trade.

As of 0009 GMT, the Nikkei was down 82.65 points at 17,119.81, while the broader TOPIX index fell 0.41 percent to 1,696.70.
