Kolkata, Jan 17 (UNI) Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee was released from nursing home today ending a 20-day stint under medical care after she called off her hunger strike last month.

'' Doctors advised me to be in the nursing home for another two months for full recovery. My kidneys and liver are damaged.

But I wanted to be released as I have been out of home since a long period, '' she told reporters.

The Trinamool leader was admitted to the South Kolkata nursing home in the midnight of December 29.

Ms Banerjee underwent treatment for various ailments as a seven-member medical board conducted several investigations to detect liver dysfunction and gall bladder stone in her.

Dr Sudarshan Ghosh Dastidar, one of the doctors attending on Ms Banerjee, said the Trinamool leader was diagnosed as having several stones in the gall bladder which required surgery. '' The condition of her gall bladder needs surgery. But she is not in an operable condition at present. It will be done at a convenient time, '' he told reporters.

Ms Banerjee was in the ICU for a long period and initially was put under oxygen support under the observation of doctors.

Besides other problems, she complained of profound weakness.

Trinamool Congress members were present when Ms Banerjee was released.
