Lt Col killed, 4 soldiers wounded in JK accident

Srinagar, Jan 17: A Lieutenant Colonel of the Territorial Army was killed and four soldiers wounded when their vehicle met with an accident near Pattan on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway last evening, a defence spokesman said.

He said a Maruti Gypsy, carrying the Army personnel, hit a tree while avoiding a direct collision with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction at Mirgund near Pattan on the Srinagar- Baramulla highway last evening.

The spokesman said Lt Col K K Donghe of Pune in Maharashtra was killed on the spot while four soldiers were critically wounded in the accident.

The condition of the wounded soldiers was stated to be out of danger now, he added.

Lt Col Donghe was the civilian officer in the Territorial Army.
