Ujjain, MP, Jan 17 (UNI) A local court today issued show cause notices to ten officials -- including the Divisional Commissioner -- in a contempt case regarding failure to prevent water, from drains, flowing into the Kshipra river for years.

Divisional Commissioner Jaideep Govind, District Collector Neeraj Mandloi, former collector Vivek Agrawal and others have been summoned on February 20.

Kshipra Bachao Sangharsh Samiti President Jaywantrao Shinde submitted a public interest litigation in the court of Civil Judge Neeta Gupta on April 15, 2004 during the Simhastha Mela. On May 13, 2004, the bench issued a stay directing all parties concerned to constantly monitor the water.

Since that was not done, Mr Shinde recently submitted a contempt plea before Civil Judge Niharika Singh.
