Kanshi Ram's brother to field candidates in UP assembly poll

Lucknow, Jan 17 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), a political outfit floated by the late Dalit leader's brother Dalbara Singh, will contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls ''in a big way''.

''The party will contest the assembly polls in a big way by fielding a maximum number of candidates to dent the vote bank of the Mayawati-led BSP,'' MrSingh said here.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Singh, reiterating his allegation of Ms Mayawati's ''role'' in the death of Kanshi Ram, claimed that the dalit community was aware about the conspiracy hatched by her.

Denying his party's alliance with the Samajwadi Party, the BSP(K) said his party will contest the election alone, but refused to comment on the functioning of the present Mulayam Singh Yadav government in UP.

''On Mayawati's birthday on January 15, our party workers had burnt her in effigy in different parts of the country.'' Urging the Election Commission to probe Ms Mayawati's ''illegal'' activities in selling assembly tickets, the BSP(K) national president maintained a thorough investigation should be undertaken.

Mr Singh also announced that a massive political rally would be held in the state capital on March 15.
