J&K Vigilance books DIET official for embezzlement
Srinagar, Jan 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today booked a District Institute of Education&Training (DIET) official for amassing huge wealth by indulging in corrupt practices.
A vigilance spokesman said an inquiry was conducted into the allegations that Mumtaz Hussain Bhat, the then Junior Assistant in the Zonal Education Office, Mandi, and at present posted in DIET, Poonch acquired huge assets by indulging in corrupt practices.
During the course of investigations, it was prima facie established that Bhat had acquired a house, a three-storey building with three shops and a single-storey house in Poonch.
Besides, the accused also owned bank deposits and modern gadgets.
The total value of the assets was estimated to be over Rs 50 lakh, much more than the legitimate known sources of income of the accused, the spokesman said.
A case has been registered against him, he added.
