Two ULFA cadres killed in Tinsukia in Asom

Guwahati, Jan 17: In the ongoing operation against the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), two rebels were killed in an encounter at Bartibari village, about 25 km east of Doomdooma town in Tinsukia district last night, sources today said.

The outfit had killed over sixty-persons in Dibruarh, Tinsukia and Sibsagar districts of Asom in the first week of this month.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had visited the affected districts of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh yesterday and met the family members affected by the ULFA carnage.

Meanwhile, joint combing operations by Army, Paramilitary and Asom police forces are on against the militants in Asom and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

Army have arrested seven ULFA rebels, including two female cadres, from Mon district of Nagaland on Monday last, while they were on their way to Myanmar, and recovered from them arms and other materials.
