Indian posts record passenger handling
Bangalore, Jan 17 (UNI) Breaking all previous records, national carrier Indian has carried as many as 8.37 lakh passengers in December 2006, a growth of 6.5 per cent over the same period in the previous year.
In a release here today, Indian said the record handling of passengers in December was the result of aggressive marketing inititives launched by the airline in the recent past.
Indian's international carriage had also registered an all-time record in December 2006 by flying 2.11 lakh passengers, up by 20 per cent over December 2005, the release said.
In December 2006 and January this year, Indian supplemented its international capacity by operating flights to carry Haj pilgrims from India to Jeddah and carrying pilgrims to various uplift points in the country. Almost 45 per cent of Indian's capacity was deployed on the international network, the release added.
