High Court seeks status of trial against Shahabuddin

Patna, Jan 17 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the state government to furnish the stage of trial against the RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in connection with a case relating to firing incident near his residence at Pratapur village in Siwan district on April 17, 2001.

While hearing the bail plea of the RJD MP in connection with this case, Justice Shiva Kriti Singh granted one week time to the state counsel to examine as well as to find out the time frame for conclusion of trial and apprise about it on the next date of hearing.

Altogether nine people were killed and several sophisticated firearms were recovered following encounter between police and alleged supporters of Mohammad Shahabuddin at Pratapur village in Siwan district on April 17, 2001.

The court would again hear the matter on January 24.
