High Court askes state govt why Medha arrested on way to Singur
Kolkata, Jan 17 (UNI) A single judge bench of Calcutta High Court today directed the state government by an affidavit, stating why social activist Medha Patekar was arrested on her way to Singur.
Justice Dipankar Dutta also sought a report on the incident from Medha, who filed a petition challenging her arrest and detention in police custody last week.
Justice Dutta observed that the petition needed arguement from both sides and then the order should be passed if the petition was maintainable.
Besides Medha, APDR member Sujata Bhadra was a joint petitioner of the case, which would come up for hearing next week.
