Governor wants value based education for youth
Aizawl, Jan 17: Mizoram governor Lt Gen (Retd) M M Lakhera urged the academicians to promote value based education for a sustainable development of the state.
Talking to media persons here last evening he said not only Mizoram, value based education under knowledge mission for younger generation has now become a need of the hours for entire NE.
"Despite having highest literacy rate in the country, Mizoram is still far behind of education and this is high time to impart moral and vocational lesson to the new generation for development of the state," Mr Lakhera said.
Emphasising on human resource development, he said that education could be the viable economic sector for NE states, as the pollution free environment and sub-tropical climate are favouring good academic atmosphere.
He requested the academicians to chalk out a comprehensive plan for development of education infrastucture, deciminate the idea and make sure that the youth would do the work courageously, which will help the region to generate employment opportunities.
"Education does not mean to reproduce the lessons or score mark in examination, it means to develop the ability of reasoning and to maintain livlihood properly," Mr Lakhera attributed.
"Most of the parents want to establish their children either as a doctor or an engineer ignoring the skill and interest of the students, which finally spoils future of the children," he lamented adding that it is a dangerous trend exist in the society that needs to be given up.
