drive against illicit liquor in polls

Moga, Jan 17 (UNI) In view of the Punjab Assembly elections, police here has launched a special drive against illicit liquor and anti-social elements to check the inflow of spirits to lure voters.

About five notorious smugglers of illicit liquor were arrested and cases under excise act have been registered against them, SSP Gautam Cheema said today.

The police has conducted a number of raids in last two days in Kotisekhan and Dharamkot areas and seized 500 KG of Lahan (molasses) and 30 bottles of illicit liquor, he said.
