Compensation for flash flood victims
Patna, Jan 17(UNI) Bihar government today announced a compensation for the losses of standing crops due to flash flood caused by breachesin embankment of Gandak canal in four villages of Muzaffarpur.
Water resources commissioner-cum-secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha told reporters here that the quantum of compensation would be decided after the assessment of the losses of crops in the villages concerned ''A three member team of engineers had been constituted to inquire into the reasons behind the breaches in canal embankment'' he said, adding the team would visit the spot tomorrow.
Mr Sinha said water flow in the canal had been stopped from the Balmikinagar barrage and the repairwork of the embankment would start tomorrow.
Earlier standing crops were damaged in four villages of Muzaffarpur district due to flash flood caused by the breaches in Gandak canal.
