Cold wave to continue in UP

Lucknow, Jan 17 (UNI) The cold wave prevailing in most parts of Uttar Pradesh is likely to continue in the days to come with mercury plummeting below normal at several places.

In the last 24 hrs, the night temperature fell in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra and Faizabad divisions.

Allahabad city recorded the minimum temperature at 4.1 degrees Celsius -- 5 notches below normal.

Especially, the eastern parts of UP continues to experience biting cold weather for the last couple of weeks.

The met office told UNI there was no possibility of rainfall anytime soon in UP and the weather would remain dry.

Two people identified as Angad (11) and a two-year-old girl died of cold in Nathnagar block of Sant Kabir Nagar district.

Several long distance trains passing through Lucknow were delayed due to fog.
