Panaji, Jan 17 (UNI) The Goa unit of Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) here today demanded that existing Panchayat bodies in Goa be given extension of four months and all Sarpanches of the Village Panchayats should be appointed as administrators as the government has no sufficient officers to look into the affairs of the Village Panchayat.

The Leader of Opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar told reporters here today the Goa government was playing with village Panchayats by not finalising the date for the election even though term of the elected Pachayat members expires on January 31.

He said the party will press this issue in the Assembly Session commencing from January 22.

He said BJP will continue its unconditional, political support for the 'Save Goa Abhiyan', which is agitating against the controversial Goa Regional plan 2011.

Mr Parrikar also claimed that that BJP will get absolute majority in the forthcoming Assembly elections due in May/June.

''Save Goa for next generation'', will be our slogan for the election, Mr Parrikar added.

He said the Chief Election Commissioner had assured him to inquire into the bogus voters registered in Goa, especially in the six constituencies of Margao, Fatorda, Ponda, Taleigao, St Cruz and St Andre. He alleged that 800 to 1,000 non-existing voters are registered in each constituency, including the highest 2,500 in Margao.

Mr Parrikar and State BJP unit president Shripad Naik, who met the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi yesterday, also demanded to send independent observers in Goa to check the bogus voters' registration.
