AMRI launches urology department

Kolkata, Jan 17(UNI) In a bid to provide quality service to patients in Eastern India, AMRI Hospitals, in collaboration with R G Stone, has launched a state of art Urology Department in the hospital.

Sources in AMRI hospitals here today said, ''The department had been established with latest technologies like US FDA approved Siemens Lithotripsy with ultrasound and X-ray attachment, 100 watt holmium laser, Endrourology for MINI PCNL, URS and other urology procedures for the treatment of patients sufferring from renal or bladder stone.'' RG Stone chairman Dr B S Bansal said in the olden days, one had to be surgically operated upon and the kidney stones were removed manually resulting in pain, risks of general anesthesia and possible infections and sometimes death too.

With lithotripsy, the stones are simply crushed into sand-like particles which pass out, harmlessly, in urine reducing the post surgery complications, he mentioned.

He also claimed that their techniques would gurantee 100 per cent cure from stone to the patients.

Hospital sources said the cost of treatment of enlarged prostate, urinary stone, bladder tumors, and renel stones may range from Rs 17000-35000.
