40 team to participate in 1000 Km TSD Rally
Bangalore, Jan 17 (UNI) Forty teams, including twice National Champion Lohith Urs, reigning 1400 cc Champion Girijashankar, will display their driving skill in the 1000 Km Maruti Suzuki Discover Karnataka Rally to be held here from January 19 to 21.
The Rally held as part of the State celebrating the Golden Jubilee--'Suvarna Karnataka' year, was sponsored by car major Maruti Suzuki Limited and co-sponsored by International Lubricant giants Castrol India Limited. The State Department of Tourism is supporting the event.
Motorsport Inc., Director Jaidas Menon said that the event,held after a gap of two decades, attracts cash prize of total Rs 1.25 lakhs which would be paid on each leg at Rs 15,000 for winner, Rs 10,000 for second place and Rs 7,000 for third.
The rally would be held on Time-Speed-Distance format and there would be three legs with the first leg beginning from Sree Kanteerava Stadium ending at Hassan after touching mandya, Chennapatna, Mysore, K R Nagar, Gorur Dam (390 Km). Second leg covers Tourist spots Belur, Halebidu, Aldur, Kalasa, Kudremuh, Ujjire, Charmudi Ghat and back at Hassan (380 Km).
Thethirdandfinalleg would run via Sravanabelagola, Chenrayapatna, Kunegal, Magadi and end at Bangalore Sun Valley Coountry Club.
Replying to a question, he said that the speed was limited 55 km and in villagese it would be restricted to 20 km to 35 km.
