Whitaker wins Golden Globe for actor in a film drama
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif, Jan 16 (Reuters) Forest Whitaker, who played former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in ''The Last King of Scotland, won the Golden Globe award on Monday for best actor in a movie drama.
The award should give Whitaker a lift in the race for Oscars, the film industry's top honors, because winners of Golden Globe awards have often claimed Oscars.
The Golden Globes are given out yesterday by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and Oscar winners are named by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
