UDF stages dharna against price-rise

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16 (UNI) Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) activists staged a dharna before the State Secretariat here today, marking the beginning of a series of agitations against price rise, deteriorating law and order situation and crisis in the farm sector.

Inaugurating the dharna, Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy alleged that the functioning of the state government had come to a standstill following infighting in the CPI(M), which led the ruling coalition.

Leaders of other UDF partners addressed the demonstrators.
