TN and Union Ministers launch free LPG connection
Chennai, Jan 16: Two days after Chief Minister M Karunanidhilaunched free LPG connections with gas stoves, his cabinet colleaguesand Union Ministers T R Baalu and Dayanidhi Maran today inaugurated thescheme in various parts of the city.
Electricity Minister Arcot N Veeraswamy launched the scheme atShenoy Nagar, Information and Publicity Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthiat Egmore, Local Administration Minister M K Stalin at Tondiarpet andFinance Minister K Anbazhagan at Prakasam Salai.
Union Minister for Shipping and Road Transport T R Baalu and hiscabinet collegue Dayanidhi Maran launched the scheme at Besant Nagarand Chintadripet respectively.
The launching of the scheme by Mr Karunanidhi on the Bhogi Day,marked the fulfilment of yet another poll promise given by the DMK,which had returned to power on the strength of a slew of promises madein its election manifesto.
Under the scheme, about three lakh gas connection would beprovided to the poor families by the end of March this year and thegovernment had allocated Rs 60 crore for the scheme.
