TN Minister to head agri labour welfare board
Chennai, Jan 16 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Revenue and Law Minister I Periasamy will head the revived State Agricultural Labour Welfare Board, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi announced today.
An official release here said the board would comprise eight ex-officio members, including DMK MP K P Ramalingam and Toilers Party Leader Ponkumar and an equal number of official members.
The official members include Revenue, Finance and Agricutlure Department Secretaries, Revenue Administrative Commissioner, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation CMD and Commissioners of Sugar and Land Ceiling Departments.
Keeping in tune with the promise made in its election manifesto, the DMK Government revived the Board by bringing in a Legislation in the State Assembly.
Meanwhile, Mr Ramalingam, who is also the Agriculture Wing Secretary of the DMK, said an awareness campaign would be held in all district headquarters on January 19 to highlight the various welfare measures initiated by the DMK Government for the benefit of farmers.
