Sugar prices recover on fresh demand
Mumbai, Jan 16 (UNI) Sugar prices today recovered on account of fresh demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.
While sugar in the small grade went up by Rs three per quintal due to better buying support, medium grade sugar remained steady on moderate demand.
Ex-mill sugar in the small grade rose by Rs five per quintal because of reduced stock supply, while it's medium grade fell by Rs three per quintal, on account of sustained heavy selling pressure.
Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,520/1,553, Medium grade: Rs 1,540/1,650, Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,500/1,525, Medium grade: Rs 1,532/1,595.
