Rs 124 crore paid as bonus to labourers in UP

Lucknow, Jan 16 (UNI) A total amount of Rs 123 crore has been paid as bonus to an estimated 3.62 lakh labourers by the Uttar Pradesh labour department in the last two financial years.

During the same period, legal notices were also served on 300 establishments in UP for failing to comply with Payment of Bonus Act.

State labour minister Waqar Ahmad Shah has issued directives to department officials to take strict action against companies and employers failing to protet the labourers' interests.
