Poverty forces mother to kill daughter

Kohima, Jan 16 (UNI) A woman hacked to death her nine-year-old daughter due to poverty in the Ganesh Nagar area near Dimapur yesterday, police today said.

The accused identified as Khenola Dimasa (40), a widow and a mother of three, was constantly keeping ill and killed one of her daughters to save her children from abject poverty.

She also admitted to have planned to commit suicide after killing rest of her children, police said.

She had been taken under police custody and police is trying to ascertain her mental condition, sources said.
