Police detects housewife murder case

Mumbai, Jan 16 (UNI) City police have detected murder case of a housewife at Borivali in western suburbs within six days of the incident by arresting a 19-year-old laundryman from Poisar, in the western suburbs.

Briefing mediapersons here today, Additional Police Commissioner Tukaram Chavan said the department had set up three teams to detect the murder of Aruna Ravindra Kothawale (42), who was brutally killed by the accused on January 10 for robbery purpose.

The investigating teams had called all the persons including the milkman, laundryman, newspaper supplier and others who were regularly visiting Silver Oak building at Bhatt Gali, Borivali, where the incident had occurred.

During the investigation, the laundryman Ajaykumar Nikatprasad Kanojiya, admitted that he had committed an offence.

Mr Chavan said a day before the incident, the accused visited the home of the deceased to bring clothes for washing, however, Aruna asked him to come the next afternoon. On the next day, he went again and asked for clothes. As soon as Aruna went inside to bring clothes, the accused followed her and stabbed her brutally. Aruna later succumbed to her injuries.

On returning home, Aruna's husband Ravindra Kothawale found her lying in a pool of blood. Thereafter, he had lodged complaint with the police.

The accused was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Borivali today, which remanded him to police custody till January 25.
