NSCN-IM alleges NSCN(K) of using landmines

Kohima, Jan 16: The militant outfit NSCN-IM in a release today alleged that the rival NSCN (K) along with Manipur Peoples Army (MPA) had planted the landmine claiming one life on January 14.

The release further said the landmine was planted to target the NSCN-IM cadres.

However, a villager accidentally stepped on the landmine and was killed in the blast.

Police said, '' We could only recover the head of the deceased from the blast site. We are also investigation.'' Condemning the use of landmine, the NSCN-IM said it had signed the deed of agreement to ban usage of all Anti-Personnel Landmines in response to the Geneva Call.

The outfit also said despite the agrrement the MPA in collaboration with the NSCN (K) had been raging anti-Naga campaigns and planting landmines in Naga populated area thereby victimising the innocent Nagas and livestock.

The NSCN-IM had also appealed to all the sections of people to condemn such acts.
