Neglect lands 39 house-owners behind bars for tenant verification

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) In its bid to perk up security arrangements for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the Capital, the police have arrested 39 house-owners for violating tenant verification orders.

While the largest 'defaulters' were from East Delhi with 21 arrests, six people were arrested from South-West Delhi, five from South Delhi and four from North-East Delhi, according to the police.

Two others were arrested from North-West Delhi and one from West Delhi.

The arrests made under Section 188, disobeying orders by a public servant, were done after they were found violating the notification issued by Police Commissioner which made it mandatory to inform the local police about new tenants.

In a surprise check, police had arrested 18 cyber cafe owners a couple of days back, all in East Delhi, for not keeping a record of customers.
