Musical "Dreamgirls" wins Golden Globe

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif, Jan 16 (Reuters) ''Dreamgirls,'' the movie about three women singers on the road to stardom, won the Golden Globe Award for best musical or comedy, giving it a boost in Hollywood's Oscar race.

The movie, which is based on the hit Broadway play that loosely tracks the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes, won over another well-liked film comedy, ''Little Miss Sunshine.'' The Golden Globes are given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and are yesterday a key indicator of who will vie for Oscars, the movie industry's top honors.
