Monarchy is past, Nepal is Republic now: Mahara
Kathmandu, Jan 16: After joining the Nepalese Parliament, leaderof the CPN (Maoist), Krishna Bahadur Mahara said the Monarchy has beenabolished and Republic is a reality now.
''Along with the promulgation of the interim Constitution,Monarchy was ended and People's Republic established,'' Mr Mahara saidyesterday adding that if the mainstream political parties do not learnfrom the history, regressive force might create hurdles again.
''Now we should not undermine the regressive forces because theycan rise again as they have been hatching conspiracies,'' he said.
Now other forces except the parliamentary forces should not getany chance to exercise the power, Mr Mahara said addressing theparliament for the first time after 11 years of underground politics.
He said we want to make new Nepal through the reconciliationprocess and want to compete with the political forces in a healthymanner.
''We have struggled for long to make a new Nepal and we hope theregressive forces can do nothing if the political forces do not giveany room to them,'' he added.
