Manipal University to introduce online tests

Bangalore, Jan 16: Changing its name to Manipal University, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education today announced that it would introduce on entrance tests for admissions to professional colleges from the next academic year.

University Pro chancellor H S Ballal told newsmen here said MAHE was the first educational institution the private sector to be granted the privileged status of a university by the Centre way back in 1993. Since the word Academy did not indicate the status of a university and led to confusion in the minds of foreign students, it had been decided to change the name to Manipal University, he said.

He said the change would affect all MAHE campuses globally and hoped the new identity would help attract more university to the institution.

One of the forward looking Universities in the country, Manipal University would use latest technologies to take examinations for admissions to BE, Medical, Dental and other professional courses online. The test would be conducted in 19 centres which have been ergonomically designed with latest computers for every student. High tech monitoring systems would be used to avoid impersonation and foul play, he added.
