Main accused in cow slaughter case arrested

Mandsaur, MP, Jan 16 (UNI) The main accused in the recent large-scale cow slaughter near Pityakhedi mines in this district has been arrested under the National Security Act, police said today.

Superintendent of Police R K Choudhary said Hafiz Abdul was arrested yesterday. He had provided Rs 10,000 as advance payment for slaughtering cows to other accused.

So far, 35 accused had been arrested in this connection of which 11 were detained under the National Security Act.

About 10 accused were absconding. A reward of Rs 5,000 each had been announced on information leading their arrest.

Several cows were slaughtered on January 4. Additional police force had to be deployed in order to control the situation.
