KAAC swearing in tomorrow

Diphu, Jan 16 (UNI) The oath taking ceremony of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will be held tomorrow at the Assembly Hall of the Council here.

The state Governor and Chief Minister would attend the function.

The election of the chairman and the Chief Executive Member would be held on January 18.

A vision document, with projection of the region 50 years hence, would also be released tomorrow.

The elections for 25 of the total 26 seats of the KAAC were held on January six and results declared on January 12.

Election to one seat was countermanded due to death of a candidate, official sources said.

Congress had retained power in the Council, bagging 15 seats. The ASDC-CPI(ML) and Independents each won in four seats, with the remaining two for which voting took place going to ASDC(J).
