India welcomes new interim constitution of Nepal
Kathmandu, Jan 16 (UNI) India has welcomed the promulgation of the interim constitution and the formation of the interim legislature in Nepal.
''The Government of India welcomes the promulgation of the Interim Constitution and the formation of the Interim Legislature in Nepal,'' said a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu quoting the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
''These are significant milestones in Nepal's progress towards a new political era which we hope will be characterized by peace, stability and economic development,''the statement added.
India also said it would extend all support to the polity of Nepal.
Nepal promulgated an interim constitution with the provision of 330 members of parliament yesterday.
There is no role of the king in the new constitution and Prime Minister will discharge the role of the head of state.
