India welcomes Interim Legislature in Nepal

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) India today welcomed the promulgation of the Interim Constitution and the formation of the Interim Legislature in Nepal, stating that these ''are significant milestones'' in the progress towards a ''new political era which we hope will be characterized by peace, stability and economic development.'' The foreign office said India had also noted that United Nations monitors had begun to arrive in Nepal to commence the process of arms management. ''This process must be credible and complete, before the formation of the Interim Government.'' The Government of India remains committed to providing all the support it can to assist the people and the political parties of Nepal as they moved forward on the peace process, it said.
