Honorarium of MISA and DIR detenues doubled

Lucknow, Jan 16(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced to double the honorarium of Maintenance of Internal Security Act(MISA) and Defence India Rule( DIR) detenues of the state effective from January 2007.

According to an official statement tonight, now the MISA and DIR detenues would receive Rs 1000 per month from this month.

Till December last year, the detenues were receiving Rs 500 per month plus free bus travel along with a companion.

The Samajwadi party government had launched the honorarium for the political prisoners of 1975 in October last year.

Over 2000 such MISA and DIR detenues of the state are at present receiving the benefits.
