Government official shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 16 (UNI) Unidentified gunmen shot dead a government employee in Baramulla district of north Kashmir this evening.

Police said the gunmen shot at and critically wounded Mohammad Shafi Lone, an employee of the Power Development Department, at main market Wagoora in north Kashmir at around 1630 hrs.

Thirty-year-old Lone, a resident of Kreeri, was immediately rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to injuries on way.

Police said the motive behind his killing was not immediately known. An FIR in this regard has been lodged in the Kreeri police station, they added.
