Kochi, Jan 16 (UNI) Former Kerala BJP President K Raman Pillai today constituted a socio-cultural forum to root out ''evil practices'' in politics and governance.

Addressing mediapersons after the formation of 'Janapaksha Vedi' here, Mr Pillai said the political and governing system were plagued with corruption, anti-democratic outlook, communal differences and other problems which were detrimental to society's harmony.

The forum brought into fore the differences in the state BJP unit as Mr Pillai was in loggerheads with the state party leadership after Mr P K Krishnadas took over as the Kerala unit president.

He said the forum, acting as a ''corrective force'', would try to wipe-off the ''evil practices'' in politics and governance.

Cutting across party lines, the forum would fight the menace of corruption and other socio-cultural problems confronting the democratic system of the country, Mr Pillai said.

Citing an example for corruption in the state, Mr Pillai alleged the state government was trying to convince the Kerala High Court not to have a CBI probe into the SNC Lavlin case thereby protecting the culprits.

On his differences with the state party leadership, Mr Pillai said he was still a party member without any official reponsibilities.

He said he was not afraid of any disciplinary action for establishing the forum.

Though BJP leaders O Rajagopal, B K Shekar and P S Sreedharan Pillai did not attend today's meeting, they extended all support to the forum.

The forum would have advisory committee and working committee under the presidentship of Mr K Raman Pillai.
