Court staff convicted for graft
New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) A special CBI court today convicted two court staff for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 100 from complainant and fined them Rs Rs 5,000 each.
Special CBI Judge Sunil Gaur sentenced Anup Singh and Kanwaljeet Singh to three-and-half-years rigorous imprisonment.
Passing the sentence, he said they had tarnished the image of the district court.
Both the convicted people were 'Almath' in Metropolitan Magistrate Sukhvinder Kaur's court.
On June 1, 2004, both were arrested while demanding and accepting Rs 100 from complainant Murali Lal, convicted in a case, for refunding his fine amount.
