Cong seeks expenditure details on Big B's TV campaign for SP

Lucknow, Jan 16 (UNI) Congress today demanded details of expenditure incurred by the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh for its TV campaign featuring Mega Superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

The party today wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner requesting him to ''investigate'' the source of money, which the SP paid to Big B and the TV channels to run the campaign.

''We have also requested the CEC to investigate if the amount spend on producing and running the campaign was borne by Mr Bachchan himself,'' UP Congress vice-president Seraj Mehdi said here.

He said despite making tall claims on TV, the matinee idol would neither contest polls nor campaign for any political party.

''We want to know how much and from where the money was paid to run the campaign as Big B charges a handsome amount to work for TV promos,'' Mr Mehdi pointed out.
