Chouhan assures policy changes to encourage investment

Khajuraho, MP, Jan 16 (UNI) Assuring that suitable policy changes will be brought about to encourage investment, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today exhorted NRI businessmen to put in their skills and abilities for developing the country.

''Policies coming in the way of investment have been modified.

More changes would be brought about if found necessary,'' said Mr Chouhan, while inaugurating the two-day 'Investors Meet-2007' here.

The state government had set up a facilitation centre besides implementing 'single-table system' for resolving queries of businessmen at one table.

He promised that red-tapism will not come in the way of development.

Commenting upon land-related problems for investors, he said the government would select a special location and identify land for investment purpose beforehand so that land could be provided as soon as a proposal was received and inordinate delay avoided.

The Chief Minister called upon NRIs to invest in herbs, food processing, mining, tourism and other fields in view of immense possibilities in these sectors.

Pointing out that better opportunities existed in Madhya Pradesh, he said cheap labour was available in the state.

Speaking about favourable environment in Madhya Pradesh, Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur said the Centre had invested Rs 17,000 crore in the state.
