'Charas' processing unit busted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 16 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have unearthed a 'charas' processing unit at Gopalpora in Badgam district and arrested four people in this connection.

Equipment used in processing of cannabis, some raw material and 2.6 kg of 'charas' were also seized from the spot.

Police said they received information from locals that some people were indulging in illegal processing of narcotic substances and supplying it to the youth in Gopalpora, Wathora.

Acting on the information, a special drive was launched and many places in the area raided.

Police said four people were arrested in this connection and some quantity of 'charas' seized from their possession.

Cases under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 have been registered against the accused identified as Nazir Ahmed Khan, Siraj-ud-Din, Tariq Ahmed Khan and Mohammed Yousuf Khan all residents of Gopalpora.
