Centre approves asphalting of NH: Minister

Hubli, Jan 16 (UNI) The Centre has approved asphalting of a 22-km stretch on the National Highway between Hubli city and Hebsur village in Dharwad district, Karnataka Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar said today.

Inaugurating a Rs 1.98 crore project at Hebsur village, he said the Union Surface Transport Ministry had also given its approval for laying 50 km of national highway in Dharwad district and the work would begin before March.

Later, talking to newspersons, Mr Shettar expressed unhappiness over ''politics'' being made over the non-inclusion of Hubli-Dharwad in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had written to Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy on the issue and the Government was awaiting reply.
