Srinagar: Bomb causes panic in high security area

Srinagar, Jan 16: Panic gripped high security cantonment area here as security forces detected a powerful Improsived Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants at Sonawar on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway this morning.

Official sources said a security force Road Opening Party (ROP) noticed a box on the roadside near G B Panth hospital in the area.

Traffic on the road was suspended. Vehicles to south Kashmir were diverted through Nowgam bypass.

Later, bomb disposal squad was summoned and the IED was defused without causing any damage.
