Bajaj Auto Q3 net jumps 23pc, bike sales up 28%

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto today posted a net profit of Rs 340 crore in Q3FY07 as against Rs 279 crore during the same quarter a year ago, recording a growth of 23 per cent.

The company's motorcycle sales climbed 28 per cent to stand at 6,52,406 units in the third quarter of FY07 as compared to 5,11,106 units in the same quarter of FY06, more than double the industry growth of 13 per cent.

Revenues were also up 28 per cent at Rs 2,568 crore as compared to Rs 2,000 crore in the corresponding period last year with its market share increasing by three per cent over the last year to be recorded at 34 per cent.

The three-wheeler sales of the company were up by 49 per cent at 85,640 units during Q3FY07 as against 57,572 units during Q3FY06.

The company recorded exports of 1,15,619 vehicles against 64,359 units, a rise of 80 per cent quarter-on-quarter.

During the April-December period, the bike sales were up 34 per cent at 18,43,654 units and exports stood at 3,25,728 units, growing by 84 per cent.

On a consolidated basis, the company's net profit stood at Rs 328 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 as against Rs 254 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005.

Consolidated net sales for the third quarter were Rs 2,696 crore versus Rs 2,081 crore for the same quarter last year.
