1,044 candidates submit forms in Amravati, 608 in Akola

Nagpur, Jan 16 (UNI) A total of 1,044 candidates have submitted their papers for the elections from the 81 wards in the Amravati Municipal Corporation, official sources said here today.

The deadline for filing of nominations passed yesterday.

In the Akola Municipal Corporation, a total of 608 candidates had submitted their forms from the 71 wards when the nomination closed yesterday, sources said.

The scrutiny of nominations in Akola and Amravati will take place today. The last date for withdrawal at both places is January 19.

Meanwhile, in Nagpur, the final list of candidates is scheduled to be issued tomorrow. The process of allotment of symbols to the candidates was completed yesterday.
