Thailand authenticates first bird flu outbreak in 6 months
Bangkok, Jan 15 (UNI) Thai authorities today confirmed the first outbreak of bird flu virus in the country in over six months leading to the large-scale culling of poultry in Phitsanulok province, some 350 km north from here.
More than 2,000 ducks in the province have been culled to prevent the deadly disease from spreading.
Tests subsequent to the death of a large number of ducks in Phitsanulok last week have revealed the fowl were infected with the H5N1 virus, Thai Livestock Development Department officials said.
