Sibu appears in Dumka court

Dumka, Jan 15 (UNI) Jailed former Union Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Sibu Soren today appeared before a local court in connection with the two and-a-half-year-old case of violating code of conduct during parliamentary elections.

Soren, who was on regular bail, appeared before the court after a warrant was produced.

Seven people, including Soren, were made accused in the case registered in 2004 on a complaint of the then officer in charge of Ramgarh police station of this district. The court has fixed February 14 as the next date for appearing in the court.

The JMM leader, now serving a life term in Tihar jail, for murder of his personal assistant, was shifted to Dumka Central jail after being produced before a Jamtara court on January 5 in connection with the three-decade-old Chirudih massacre.

The court had given directions to shift the jailed minister at Jamtara jail till the next hearing on January 16 in connection with the Chirudih massacre.

Soren was brought from Tihar jail and shifted to Dumka jail in the evening of January 5.
