Sena-BJP release list on last day of filing nominations

Mumbai, Jan 15 (UNI) The ruling Shiv Sena today released a list of 155 candidates for the upcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation, denying candidature to 58 sitting corporators, including Mumbai Mayor Datta Dalvi.

The party has given 38 per cent representation to women in its list. Its alliance partner BJP also released names of its 72 candidates.

The headquarters of Congress and NCP, which failed to reach understanding on seat sharing, witnessed a frantic last minute rush to get the required approval of their candidature from the respective party leaders.

Today being the last day of filing nominations, candidates of all parties, including Independents rushed to meet the deadline.
