Security for candidates filing nominations

Imphal, Jan 15 (UNI) Security will be provided to all candidates filing nominations for the coming Manipur polls at designated offices of the Returning Officers at District Headquarters, Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi said here today.

Various political parties have urged Mr Rashmi to allow some candidates to file nominations at designated places in the valley district, in addition to District Headquarters of the Returning Officers of Assembly Constituencies in Hill Districts.

Mr Rashmi said the matter has been considered by the Election Commission and it was decided that the existing arrangements of filing of nomination papers in the hill districts should continue.

He further said nomination papers should be filed by the candidates at designated offices of the respective Returning Officers at their district headquarters and the offices of ADCs/ROs at Jiribam and Kangpokpi.
